Treatments - Septoplasty
Septoplasty is a procedure that involves re-centring the septum so the nose can more efficiently inhale and exhale air. Although it is normal to have a slightly deviated septum - in fact, approximately 80% of people have a septum that is not right in the middle of the nose, however having one that is drastically deviated can make proper breathing difficult.
A septoplasty is performed under general anaesthetic and usually involves a one night stay in hospital after the operation. After the initial swelling has subsided, the patient should notice a considerable improvement in breathing.
